School Opens Next Week

Chesterfield County Police want you to be careful and slow down!

Chesterfield County Police, in an attempt to prevent injury and fatality crashes on our roadways, want to remind and advise drivers that school opens next week on September 8th. The roadways will be filled with students, parents, school buses, and Chesterfield County Police Officers. We are asking drivers to be aware of the school zones and flashing lights warning of the reduced speed limits. Also be mindful of the general safety guidelines that we encourage year-round to all drivers.

 Slow Down - All school zones are posted at 25 mph

 Follow at a safe distance from other vehicles

 Watch for students and pedestrians as they walk to school or to bus stops

 Watch for School Crossing Guards as they help our children cross the street

 Buckle up yourself and your child

 Be alert to school buses stopping to load or unload children.

It is our goal to educate the drivers to not only make the roads safer for our school children, but also for everyone on the roadways. Parents are encouraged to sit down with their children and help us educate them on pedestrian and bicycle safety. Chesterfield County Police Officers will be conducting strict speed enforcement in all school zones over the next several weeks as schools begin.
